Harmand-Geoffroy

Domain: Harmand-Geoffroy

Gérard Harmand now runs the Harmand-Geoffroy family domaine, whose creation dates back to the 19th century. The vineyard covers a little less than 10 hectares in the commune of Gevrey-Chambertin, with a majority of premier crus and a grand cru, the Mazis-Chambertin. The vines are relatively old (about fifty years) and the cultivation is conducted in a sustainable manner. The quality of the wines has progressed well in recent years, they are harmonious, with body and intense fruity aromas.

Review

“Restrained and reasonably deeply pitched aromas are composed by fruit derived mostly from the dark side of the spectrum along with plenty of earth. On the palate there is both good volume and energy to the rounded and supple middle weight flavors that abruptly change character on the powerful, serious and youthfully austere finale. I like the balance and punch and while this will certainly reward a few years of cellaring, it’s not so backward that it couldn’t be enjoyed young if that’s your preference.”88 Points, Burghound, January 2019
